Plátano de Canarias Transvulcania 2015 wants the spectators to take active part in this humongous sports festival. Hence our "Transvulcania Fototrail La Palma Princess" contest. Participants can win a free weekend in La Palma Princess hotel, on a half-board basis. Additionally, a kit of Transvulcania items of clothing is also on the line.
If you intend to run Plátano de Canarias Transvulcania 2015, you need to decide your transfer options. You have a choice of services, depending on if you registered for the Ultramarathon, the Marathon or the Half Marathon [links in Spanish]. All of them are free to use.
If you are not running but you still want to follow the race on location (either for love of the sport or to support a participant) our partner agency El Corte Inglés now gives you the chance to do so. The price of the service is the same for all competitions: 22 € per head. Places are limited so click here to access the booking form [link in Spanish].
At the very last minute, our most favorite Swedish said yes! Indeed, the great Emelie Forsberg, 2014 Skyrunning World Series Winner (Ultra) and 2013 Transvulcania winner, will join us at Faro de Fuencaliente. It's a brave decision, considering that she's just finished her ski season and has only trained on the trails for a mere two weeks.
The best trail runners in the world have a date wich reads: La Palma, 9th of May 2015. Among them, the likes of Luis Alberto Hernando, Miguel Heras, Manuel Merillas, Pablo Villa, Tòfol Castanyer, Tim Olson, Dakota Jones, Jason Schlarb, Ryan Sandes, Vlad Ixel, Anna Frost, Alessandra Carlini, Landie Greyling, Anne-Lise Rousset, etc. Click here for the full list, as explained on ISF's website.
In 2012, Transvulcania joined the International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) calendar. That made a group of top US athletes jump in a plane to an island they'd probably never heard of. Among them was a 21 year old from Wyoming nicknamed The Kid, which had blasted Lake Sonoma 50 miler record but who for many was most definitely not on the shortlist to win the race. And yet...
From the 1st to the 5th of April 2015, we held the second edition of our Training Camp. Conferences and indoor sessions took place at La Palma Teneguía Princess Hotel, whereas the outdoor trainings developed on the trails coded GR 131 (uphill) and PR LP 18 (downhill). Yeray Durán and Fernanda Maciel, from The North Face International, were the campus' flagship athletes.
Our team has put together four short video clips about the meeting [English subtitles available].
In Spanish ultrarunning, the Heras surname has a lot of weight. Miguel Heras is, for starters, one of the country's top runners and a two times winner of Transvulcania (in 2010 and 2011). Lesser known but almost on par are his brothers Javier (winner of Transvulcania Half Marathon in 2011) and Roberto (one of the best bikers Spain has ever produced). The three will converge on the same trail race for the first time ever. And that race will be the Plátano de Canarias Transvulcania Ultramaraton 2015.
