Our registration system for the Ultramarathon (73,3 km) has now reached its limit on the number of participating runners and it has been automatically interrupted. We are now in the process of manually pruning the database of erroneous and duplicate entries. In about one week from now, a few days after the Christmas holidays, we will publish the list of all those runners who have been admitted to the race and we will open an appeal period for those who haven't.
Meanwhile, online entries for the Half Marathon (24 km), the Marathon (44 km) and the Training Camp will still be admitted as usual. Finally, those for the Vertical Kilometer will be opened in the first days of January.
Trasvulcania’s Ultramarathon, at 73,3 km the longest and most ambitious of its races, is on the brink of closing entries five months ahead of its celebration (9th of May 2015). Not even the new entry requirements have slowed down the interest of the running community for the event, to be held in La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain) and scheduled to open the International Skyrunning Federation calendar for the upcoming season.
We are now entering the low season. Elite runners use most of these winter months either for resting or enjoying sports other than trail running. However, three of our Transvulcanians are still very much pushing it. It is the case of Laura Orgué (runner up of our Vertical Kilometre and ISF World Champion of the category), Sage Canaday (twice third place in Transvulcania, in 2013 and 2014) and Kilian Jornet (three times World Champion, absolute winner of Transvulcania 2013 and runner-up in 2014).
The readers of the specialised website Carreras Por Montaña, one of the most followed in Spain, have chosen the Ultramarathon of La Palma as the Best Race of the Year in an online poll. Almost half of the participants (42%) have opted for our race as their favourite and it's the second year in a row that this happens.
Transvulcania, the ultramarathon of La Palma, will officially launch tomorrow on the island its official line of products. The event will set up a promotional stand, included in the programme of the Día Blanco (Wakeful Day) of Los Llanos de Aridane and again at the Noche de las Estrellas of Santa Cruz de La Palma the following weekend (Saturday 13th of December). After these initial tests, and starting in 2015, the official Transvulcania products will become available in shops throughout the island.
La Palma is a tiny Atlantic island. Come visit and overcome your limits [English subtitles available].
Canariasviaja.com, travel partner of Transvulcania, has updated its promotional travel packs. They include non-stop Binter Canarias flights from Tenerife or Gran Canaria (with additional connecting options from Fuerteventura, Lanzarote or El Hierro). The choice of accommodation includes any of the race's official hotels.
